This is a Boom?

What to Know: The White House is claiming that President Biden has brought about the biggest economic boom in the nation’s history.

The TPPF Take: American families know better.

“The U.S. economy and labor market have been improving, but bad policies out of D.C. have hindered more progress,” says TPPF’s Vance Ginn. “The path forward should include pro-growth policies that look more like the policies that supported historic prosperity from 2017 to 2019, rather than the progressive policies of the more than $12 trillion in spending either authorized or proposed since the pandemic began and the massive tax hikes by the Biden administration and congressional Democrats.”

Narco-Politics in Mexico

What to Know: The Mexican state of Tamaulipas has a new governor; time will tell if governmental corruption will be addressed.

The TPPF Take: People in Tamaulipas speak of narcos in government almost as a given.

“The state has been beset by narco-violence for the past dozen years—ever since Los Zetas broke with their former partners, the Gulf Cartel—along with not-so-secret suspicions of narcos infiltrating governments at all levels,” points out TPPF’s David Agren. “Tamaulipas has experienced shocking violence over the past two decades, while drug cartels have never shied from showing their power.”

Texodus

What to Know: Texas is now home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other state.

The TPPF Take: Hewlett Packard Enterprise is just one of those firms moving to Texas.

“According to the U.S. Census Bureau, it isn’t just the rich and famous leaving California,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “Every year for the past 15 years, about 100,000 more Californians leave the state than other Americans move in, with the most popular destination consistently Texas, 1,300 miles to the east.”
