This Land is Our Land
What to know: Republicans in Congress—as well as in many states—are working on legislation to prevent the Chinese Communist Party and those affiliated with it from owning land in Texas.
The TPPF take: The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is turning American freedoms into weapons against us.
“SB 17, dubbed ‘Stopping Foreign Adversaries’ Land Grabs,’ is straightforward: It bars governments, their agents, and entities from China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea from owning Texas dirt,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “The aim is clear: Keep hostile regimes away from our military bases, farmland, and infrastructure, like Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas, or the ranches feeding our state.”

DEI Disaster
What to know: Morgan Stanley adopted diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies in 2020. Employees, including minority employees. But the DEI policies led to a “divisive culture” and miserable workers.
The TPPF take: DEI is a failure, and Americans have rejected it.
“Viewing the world through the DEI ideology requires pronouncing virtually everything that humans have accomplished since time began as the result of white supremacy, racism or colonialism,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “It rejects the principles of individual freedom and autonomy, science, research, advancement, inquiry and discovery. Their worldview is a dark place where everything humans value is proclaimed to be bad and everything human decency condemns as bad is said to be good.”

Taxpayer Funded Lobbying
What to know: Texas Sen. Mayes Middleton has filed a bill banning the use of public funds to lobby the Texas Legislature.
The TPPF take: Taxing entities are using your dollars to lobby against your interests.
“It’s bad enough that millions of your tax dollars end up in the bank accounts of high-priced Austin lobbyists, but it adds insult to injury to find out much of that money comes from supposedly ‘broke’ school districts,” says TPPF’s Brian Phillips. “And it compounds abuse to then see them use your tax dollars to lobby for higher taxes and more debt.”
