Think of the Children
What to know: The left’s push for a minimum wage increase could force many women out of the workforce for an unexpected reason—higher childcare costs.

The TPPF take: A minimum wage hike is bad economic policy.
“Raising the minimum wage—especially now, in the midst of a government-induced economic slowdown—would devastate small businesses,” says TPPF’s Vance Ginn. “It would hurt those it is intended to help the most, by eliminating jobs, reducing the hours of those who still have them, and by cutting off the lowest rungs of the ladder to success.”

Time to Admit Defeat, ACA
What to know: A piece in Forbes is calling on the Biden administration to acknowledge the obvious—the Affordable Care Act’s many flaws.

The TPPF take: The Biden administration is doubling down on the ACA’s shortcomings.
“The ACA is a failure, and our health care system is still in need of reform,” says TPPF’s David Balat. “The ACA’s broken promises are legion. We never saved $2,500 per family. Too many of us didn’t get to keep our doctors or our insurance policies. Our premiums and deductibles have skyrocketed. A better approach would be to start with price transparency—and let patients know beforehand they’re about to be charged $336 for a Band-Aid.”

A New Border Crisis
What to know: The Biden administration’s policies have already created a new border crisis, the New York Times reports.

The TPPF take: The Biden administration has created powerful incentives that will continue to lure migrants to the U.S.
“The administration has reinstituted the catch-and-release policies, which mean that once you’re here illegally they are going to protect you from lawful deportation, and then as you remain here illegally they are going to reward you with an expansion of DACA, amnesty and free health care,” noted former U.S. Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan during a recent TPPF livestream event.
