What to know: Fort Worth ISD’s academic failures were so great that State officials took it over in late 2025. Still, the disaster won’t stop the district’s outgoing superintendent from “receiv[ing] at least $412,700 as part of her resignation agreement.”
The TPPF take: Taxpayers shouldn’t be expected to pay a fortune for failure.
“Fort Worth ISD’s former superintendent is walking away with a fortune despite failing students, parents, and teachers. There is something deeply wrong with this situation and ISD administrator compensation more broadly,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Every dollar that this former superintendent makes off with is one less dollar available for the classroom.”

Fleeing to Freedom
The TPPF take: Productive people want to keep their earnings.
“Americans are heading where housing is more attainable, jobs are plentiful, taxes are lower, and governments prioritize results over DEI virtue signaling,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “Red state governance wins because it delivers consistent standard of living improvement that matters for the next generation—not the static ‘protections’ that trade dynamism for a false comfort.”

Sam’s An All-Star
What to know: Reason magazine has named founding father Sam Adams (John’s cousin) as a “1776 All-Star.”
The TPPF take: Reason magazine is right.
“Most American historians say our revolution could not have happened without Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Thomas Jefferson called Adams ‘the earliest, most active and persevering man of the Revolution.’ Samuel Adams understood that universities are one of the primary forces that shape civilizations.”
