Vineyard Wind

What to know: Lawsuits—including one filed by TPPF attorneys—against planned massive offshore wind farms continue to make their way to courts.

The TPPF take: The Biden administration is selling us impossible promises about offshore wind farms.

“The administration has put all their political capital on offshore wind and is breaking all the rules in order to do it,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “The administration’s violation of the Endangered Species Act should be a complete bar to the whole project.”

China Prepares

What to know: China is preparing for war, leader Xi Jinping says. His country’s defense budget has doubled in the last decade.

The TPPF take: China is much more focused on preparing for war than on saving the planet from climate change.

“China knows that American elites fear climate change, claiming it is an existential threat,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “As a result, China touts its massive effort to build wind turbines, deploy solar panels, and rapidly expand electric vehicle production, with almost half of the world’s EVs operating in China. But what if China’s green energy push has nothing to do with the environment?”

Middlemen

What to know: Middlemen, such as pharmacy benefits managers, are now running much of the U.S. health care system.

The TPPF take: In health care, middlemen are running amok.

“Middlemen with the kind of influence that PBMs have are able to manipulate supply and demand by favoring one manufacturer over another through sole-source or dual-source agreements,” says TPPF’s David Balat. “These types of agreements are also behind many of the shortages we have seen for both medications and supplies throughout the supply chain.”
