We’ll Keep Fighting
What to know: The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear two cases involving the Vineyard Wind offshore energy project in New England. That leaves lower court rulings in place.
The TPPF take: TPPF attorneys represent the plaintiffs in one of those cases.
“While we are disappointed for our clients, a key piece of the Biden Administration’s radical agenda has taken a significant hit as a result of their courageous stand,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “The only monuments to the Biden Administration will be broken wind turbines off the coast of Nantucket.”

Failing Texas Children
What to know: Texas lawmakers are considering a ban on taxpayer-funded lobbying—the kind done at the Legislature by hired guns for government entities such as school districts.
The TPPF take: School districts have been employing lobbyists at the taxpayer expense to exploit the sympathies of Texans.
“Their messaging that the next bond will help your child read or that the next property tax increase will raise teacher pay is often disingenuous,” says TPPF’s John Bonura. “Lobbyists hired by school districts often oppose legislation that would lower school district tax rates or push to have elections to approve higher taxes on days where turnout is so low that just a few votes can influence the outcome to line their own pockets.”

A Convert?
What to know: Teacher union leader Randi Weingarten published an op-ed in the New York Times this week seemingly reversing course—she tells educators to stop pushing everyone toward college.
The TPPF take: In this instance, at least, Weingarten is correct.
“The college-for-all myth has come at a steep price: spiked demand, ballooning tuition, and student debt—all while academic standards (and with them, student learning) sank,” says TPPF’s Tom Lindsay. “The myth has collapsed under its own weight, driving up tuition, burying students in debt, and eroding academic rigor, while failing to deliver promised opportunity.”
