What Happened to Affordable?

What to know: Americans spend more on health care than other nations, yet many Americans say it’s still unaffordable. This is 14 years after the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

The TPPF take: The ACA—also known as Obamacare—increased coverage, but coverage doesn’t equal care. For example, many health care providers don’t accept ACA insurance plans.

“As many as 214,000 doctors opted out of participating in Obamacare exchange plans,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “CNN declared President Obama’s claim that ‘You can keep your own doctor’ false. And the Obamacare website revised and then dropped the section entitled, ‘Can I keep my own doctor?’”

Big Trouble

What to know: President Joe Biden’s offshore wind push is in big trouble, after debris from a failed offshore turbine closed a Nantucket Island beach.

The TPPF take: In its pursuit of a Green New Deal, the Biden administration seems to be skipping OSHA and environmental safety protocols.

“The federal government is required to ensure safety and environmental protection by law when approving projects like this—and they knew this project had environmental risks like the one that came to pass here—but they let it happen anyway,” says TPPF’s Connor Mighell. “The First Circuit has to put a stop to it, and we’re going to ask them to do that this week in Boston.”

The NYT is Not Wrong (This Time)

What to know: The New York Times says that “bus by bus, Gov. Greg Abbott changed migration across the U.S.,” successfully “changing the debate” on the issue.

The TPPF take: Gov. Abbott makes our Winners List for the week.

“Gov. Abbott’s convention speech was tremendous,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “As the governor who bused thousands of migrants to Democrat sanctuary cities, he has a national profile now. He showed the entire country the impact of a giant influx of illegal immigrants, demonstrating how border security became the priority issue for all Americans.”
