AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation today released a new report from Director of the Center for Tenth Amendment Action Karen Lugo. America’s Constitutional Crisis: Time for an Article V Amendments Convention? argues that a movement for an Amendments Convention would engage voters, re-invigorate Constitutional enthusiasm, and educate the American public on necessary reform.

“America’s Founders provided a powerful tool for use when citizens need to get the attention of an unresponsive and unaccountable government,” said Lugo. “Article V of the United States Constitution commends organization at the state level to amend the Bill of Rights when Washington, D.C., politicians become detached from the responsibilities and duties they have sworn to uphold.”

“The very debates provoked by activity to amend the Constitution would notify Congress and the President as to the determination of citizens to restore responsive government, and would also inspire Americans to focus on the foundational structure that Constitutional amendments provide.”
