Yesterday, the Texas Senate approved SB 1788 by Sen. Florence Shapiro, which increases student access to high school courses by setting up a statewide virtual school network. Brooke Terry touted the bill’s increase in student and parental choice during her testimony on this bill when it was considered by the Senate Finance Committee. The companion bill, HB 277 by Rep. Jerry Madden, has passed the House Public Education Committee and is pending in the House Calendars Committee.
