Hat tip to Nick Swartsell of the Dallas Morning News for this story, “Texas surpasses California as top tech exporter.” From the piece:

  • Texas exported $45 billion in high tech products in 2012, a $3 billion increase in 2011, surpassing California for the first time which saw $44.8 billion in exports in 2012, down 3 percent from 2011.
  • Texas has 22 percent of the nation’s technology manufacturing jobs.
  • This is the first year that Texas topped California in tech exports.
  • The shift to Texas is attributed to rising manufacturing costs in California and Texas’ business-friendly atmosphere.

So, contrary to critics, Texas’ success isn’t just due to oil and gas. What excuse will supporters of big government come up with next; that business is going to Texas because of the better weather
