Fresh confirmation today of the vitality of the Texas model of low taxes and less regulations in news that Texas added 13,200 more jobs in April, behind Indiana with 17,100. The Tax Foundation rates Texas as having the 9th-best business tax climate in America, with Indiana at 11th.

Meanwhile, California, 48th in the Tax Foundation business climate surveylost 4,200 jobs.

Chief Executive magazine has ranked Texas as the best state in which to do business for the past eight years in a row. Indiana moved up to 5th from 6th this year in the magazine’s annual ranking of state business competitiveness.

Texas’ unemployment rate is now 6.9%. The national average is 8.1%.
