Campus Antisemitism

What to know: Overt antisemitism is back on the campuses of our elite colleges and universities. Republican lawmakers have now filed a bill that would provide consequences for schools that allow it to run rampant.

The TPPF take: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) offices have played a role in incubating campus radicalism and violence.

“DEI offices and personnel have been colonizing college campuses for years,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Inclusion, the third component, is meant to ensure that everyone on campus feels welcome and safe. While this sounds unobjectionable, celebration and support for Hamas’ actions reveals that inclusion is selectively applied—specifically, if you’re Jewish, inclusion is not for you.”

Winter is the new Summer

What to know: Winter is coming, and with it some risk to the Texas electric grid.

The TPPF take: The Texas grid is still facing challenges.

“Winter demand is growing rapidly in Texas, even faster than summer demand, as newer homes are usually equipped with heat pumps that are efficient in mild weather but become electricity hogs when the temperature drops below freezing,” says TPPF’s Brent Bennett. “Environmental groups pushing to end the use of fossil fuels want every building to switch away from gas toward electric heat, but doing so will make winter electricity demand grow even faster.”

Even More Inflation?

What to know: A looming dockworkers’ strike could reignite higher inflation, economists warn, just in time for the holidays.

The TPPF take: Inflation is an invisible tax that hurts everyone—but it’s especially damaging for the poor and those on a fixed-income.

“Most Americans today have a gut feeling that inflation is still a problem, but the Heritage Foundation’s new tool enables anyone to see just how much this invisible tax has added to everyday bills, like gas, groceries, and rent. It’s painful to see, but it’s also necessary to know,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Truly taming inflation requires getting government spending under control and demanding discipline long-term.”
