Exodus and Numbers
What to know: Blue-state residents are leaving for friendlier states, and they’re taking their wealth with them. California lost $23.8 billion in adjusted gross income last year.
The TPPF take: People are fleeing the big, Democrat-run states such as California and Illinois.
“At its very heart, government’s most important role is to keep its citizenry safe, and they’re failing,” says TPPF’s Brett Tolman. “They’re failing because they’re implementing policies that are not thoughtful. They’re not best practices that are working. And they’re not considerate of the dangers that men and women are facing as the crime rises.”

Winds of Change
What to know: The Biden administration’s ambitious offshore wind energy plans have been dealt another setback. The latest estimates show the administration can’t meet its goal of 30,000 megawatts of offshore energy generation by 2030 until 2033 at the earliest.
The TPPF take: Offshore wind energy is expensive—and harmful to the environment.
“The political pressure to implement offshore wind has been intense,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “The Interior Department’s ‘Smart from the Start’ program fast-tracks offshore wind development, improperly granting permissions allowing foreign-owned energy companies to move forward despite the harms to our safety, our domestic industries and our environment.”

Election Integrity
What to know: The Republican National Committee has launched an initiative in battleground states to monitor elections through citizen watchdogs.
The TPPF take: It’s more important than ever that elections are transparent.
“Groups from across the political spectrum have questions about sloppy election processes,” says TPPF’s Josh Findlay. “As we look to November, voters need to recognize that election officials’ authority to enforce a complete election process will be the key issue and solution to that problem.”
