Record-High Fourth of July

What to know: Celebrating 4th of July this year could cost Americans a record-high amount. According to the American Farm Bureau’s Fourth of July market basket survey, the average U.S. consumer is facing “their most expensive Fourth of July grocery bill in the history of the survey this year.”

The TPPF take: Today’s cost-of-living crisis is the result of Big Government and Bidenomics.

“Washington, D.C. policymakers bear much of the blame for today’s cost-of-living crisis. They spend too much, print too often, and have little regard for free-market economics. Consequently, ordinary Americans are laboring under a worsening economy and many can’t afford the basics,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “This holiday, Americans would do well to remember that government is the problem, not the solution.”

We Got Ourselves a Convoy

What to know: A number of groups, including TPPF and a number of states Attorneys General, are taking on the EPA over new rules that will force many big trucks off the road.

The TPPF take: The EPA does not have the legal authority to require the wholesale electrification of trucks and cars.

“The rules are not only inconsistent with the Clean Air Act—they are unconstitutional,” says TPPF’s Ted Hadzi-Antich. “In promulgating the illegal rules, EPA ignores the obvious fact that there is woefully insufficient infrastructure in the nation to support the break-neck pace set by EPA for switching from fossil fuels to electricity.”

Settling Questions

What to know: The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that presidents have immunity for their official acts.

The TPPF take: Despite the grumbling from opponents of former President Donald Trump, this was a good decision.

This is a demonstration of democracy working,” says TPPF’s Brett Tolman. “It’s the separation of powers. This decision was actually not difficult when analyzing the law. The justices came down exactly where the Constitution is on it.”
