Terrorists Crossing the Border

What to know: The FBI has been tracking eight illegal immigrants with ties to the Islamic State and other terrorist groups. They’ve now been arrested.

The TPPF take: Border security is national security.

“The link between illegal immigration and terrorism is becoming increasingly apparent,” says TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez. “News reports dating back to January of 2024 proves there have been multiple breaches by illegal aliens on United States military installations nationwide. These breaches are not isolated incidents.”

Malicious Prosecution

What to know: The U.S. Supreme Court has sided with an Ohio jewelry store owner who has sued police over malicious prosecution—the man was arrested on money laundering charges, with no probable cause.

The TPPF take: This is a win for everyday Americans.

“Today’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court validates that malicious prosecution claims are important and cannot be hidden or shielded when prosecutors bring multiple charges, some less legitimate than others,” says TPPF’s Rachel Wright.

Underfunded—or Wasteful?

What to know: Texas public school officials continue to plead poverty and to claim they’re underfunded.

The TPPF take: Overspending and misplaced priorities are the problems, not funding.

“Texas taxpayers give enormous amounts of money to public schools,” says TPPF’s Mandy Drogin. “According to the Texas Education Agency, $92.4 billion in Texas taxpayer funds was spent on public schools last year. Total annual funding is at a historic high. When you look at overall funding from all funding sources since 2014, per-student funding has increased by more than 46%, from $10,600 to $15,503. When adjusting for inflation, the state has still increased overall funding by more than 14.5%.”
