In 2007, Congress passed the Energy and Security Act, effectively ending the ability to purchase incandescent light bulbs. The Texas Legislature, however, passed legislation excluding Texas from the ban. Whatever unfolds, incandescent light bulbs should be allowed to compete in the marketplace-allowing the market to determine which bulb is best for American consumers.
